If everyone didn’t freak out and buy 100 gallons of gas these shortages wouldn’t happen

This always happens in natural disasters and storms. Yes oil refineries and other places were impacted which may slow the distribution of gas some.
But if everyone would just go buy the gasoline they need for their car and/or generators whole cities wouldn’t run out. When people go and fill up their truck, Jet-ski, ATV, 10 5 gallon jugs and a 100 gallon reserve tank even though they aren’t driving or using those vehicles for the next month there would be enough for the people who need it.

People are idiots. This is nothing new.

What if I’m reselling for $10/gallon?

Hey a-hole, I bought a roll of hefty bags and it's my right as an American to fill every God damn one of them with gas.

Agree and Actually all that should be done before the storm..

Hard to blame someone for having superior survival tactics to you.
Natural disasters are no time to be nice. You get as much as you can when it’s available.

Well carry on, and actually if you cut it by using 1/3 gallon of water and 2/3 gas you can sell even more.

I filled all of mine up last Monday. Why?

Burning through roughly 16-18 gallons a day. 100 gallons doesn't look bad right now. I wish I did have the capability to store that much.

Parking in line backed into the street making you most likely to die in a crash and then pulling up to a gas station where you're most likely to get shot or stabbed is definitely elite survival skills.

Well, we do live in a society where there’s a stigma attached to being a prepper. We deserve supply shortages if we can’t accept the fact that disasters are unavoidable and should be met with proper preparation.

So the guy who refused to leave an area with an evacuation order and hurricane coming right at it, didn’t prepare beforehand, then went and panic bought gasoline because they are stuck. That guy is a better survivalist than the guy who evacuated safely but can’t get back to his house because person A bought enough gasoline to power his generator for a year?

I get what you're saying, but
Combined with
is why cities are running out. People don't normally need gas for generators so there is extra demand, and production and shipping is slowed so there is less supply.
Lower supply + higher demand = shortage

Way ahead of you. My gas comes with a 10% off coupon at my cousin Hebert’s shop.

As long as we are selling stuff anyone need toilet paper. I got another 40 cases I'm trying to unload.

Watching 55 gallon drums being filled and waiting for that spark to show that person what a terribly bad idea they had.
Posted on 9/2/21 at 2:48 pm to Tiger1242
When I get gas, I am filling up about 80 gallons at a time. But this is split between four households. Don't just assume people are hoarding because they are filling up a lot of cans.

100 gallons may last a week on big generators.
No idea why he thinks it would last a year.
