First time in the new courthouse. In case you didn't know, the old one burned down in 2002, and the court sat in temporary quarters in Belle Chasse (basically greater NOLA) for 18 years.
It is literally in the middle of nowhere. A nice, modern (empty) courthouse at the end of the world. There is nothing else there, not even a gas station. And the fine citizens of Plaquemines Parish actually voted to move the courthouse back there. WTF were they thinking?

Actually, just over 60% of the parish voted to move it. However...needed 66%.
So...we have a courthouse at the end of the world. However, the people who run the store next door are are amazing folks and would certainly appreciate your patronage next time you visit.

There is one like that in SC while it isn't new now when built it was a huge shiny justice center in the middle of nowhere. It is a little busier now but when it was built it always felt like a Saturday when I was there.

On purpose or outdated Google Maps?

Nice drive if you skip the ferry

Yeah. The oak grove in Docville is a nice start. Then there are some really amazing properties along the eastbank of Plaquemines.
Stella and Mary Plantations are both pretty cool to go check out.

Interesting, you don’t seem to like the Belle Chasse location as it is basically in metro New Orleans...but Pointe a la Hache cause not urban enough for you.
Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know where the parish seat is?
Also, take a gander at a map and see where the midpoint of the parish is....as well as where there is a ferry which gives people easy access from either side of the river.

Used to work in the old courthouse back in the day. Was a neat place

Gordon can get there by helicopter in less than an hour.

Used to cross on the ferry there every week when I worked out of Venice. Always thought it would be a neat place to live.

It’s the parish seat, it’s where courthouses go

Well, like Earl Long said to Leander Perez, "what you gonna do now Leander, the feds have an atom bomb?"
Old folks will get this, you young turks won't.

Plaquemines Parish and Cameron Parish need to merge with Jefferson and Calcasieu respectively. There’s probably others too. So dumb to waste taxpayer money on stuff, but at least someone is making money.

I didn't know there was actually a land based place called that, I just thought it was an area west of the Biloxi Marsh on the water...
