I really hate flying.

I get that flying is the most efficient form of travel, but it seriously sucks arse.
Can’t bring any liquids over a shot’s worth. Have to get to the airport 2 hours ahead of departure, and almost any airport is a royal PITA to get to. Strip down in the security line, basically take everything out of your bag, get bitched at by a high school dropout TSA worker. Scramble to get to your gate, only to stand in line for 20 minutes to get packed like sardines into a beige aircraft. Wait another 20-25 minutes to leave, taxi, and finally take off. Constantly get elbowed by the fatass sitting in the seat next to you. Can’t purchase alcohol anymore. Have to keep your mask on, and get bitched at by the flamer flight attendant if you pull it down. Wait in line to piss or shite. Land and wait another 20 minutes for people to get their shite out of the compartments and deboard. Wait another 20 minutes at the baggage claim if you had the misfortune of checking bags, and pray that they sent it on the right plane. Pay out of the arse for an Uber to your destination, unless the destination airport has public transportation.
I’m surprised more people don’t just drive places, or take Amtrak. I take the train whenever I can. It is exponentially more relaxing, and I don’t care that it takes forever. I would take it more places if Atlanta had more service.

As I've gotten older, I don't want to drive anywhere more than 12 hour drive away... that I can do in one day... unless I have the time to make the drive a trip in itself.

The physical process of security for flights never bothered me... but like everything else right now there aren't enough employees and the ones they have are surly. Probably because they can be and they are tied of getting yelled at. A lot of your complaints boil down to the fact that as a society, we are more rude and short tempered than ever before.
For example, getting off the plane. If only the first row would stand up, get their stuff, get off, and then the second row stand up, get their stuff, get off, etc... the entire process would move much faster. But no, the Karen in row 28 wants to jump out of her seat before the damn plane even touches the jet bridge, and try to grab her waaaay oversized bag out of the hold and somehow get to the front of the plane first.

I show up to airport 30 min before plane boards. I cant remember the last time precheck took me more than 5 min
I rarely take early AM flights though, apparently that is when lines are long

There are ways to make this much easier on yourself. I take about 50 flights a year and don’t deal with any bullshite and have it down to a streamlined process.

Also the routes suck unless you are taking a linear one. For example to go from DFW to Denver you have to go to Illinois and then take another train from Illinois to Denver. And that costs $750 one way.
No direct routes.
