Yep, though plenty of men do it as well, especially if they have a briefcase/laptop bag.
That person will also be the first the complain because they get held up trying to leave the plane because somebody is trying to get back to their bag because all the storage remotely near their seat was taken up by personal items.

I always say this.
Airlines are constantly begging people to courtesy check their bags because there’s never room for everyone’s. An easy solution to this would be to maker checked luggage free and charge a $20 fee for carry on luggage.
This would entirely eliminate the families of 5 carrying all their shite onto the planes taking up space/time, but solo travelers and business travelers would pay the fee to have the convenience of their bag with them.
Everyone wins.

Most people who travel frequently for business aren't going to have to worry about paying bag fees. They are free with almost any status.
For Delta, your bags also come out first when you check them
I think SW is trying to start boarding from the front and back of the plane. That should be interesting and if it works, I'd assume all airlines will do it

Only amateur travelers check luggage for short-medium trips. You outted yourself.
Eh. I used to carry on. But I got sick of having to seek assistance from strangers like a helpless since I can’t reach the overhead bins, sick of having that much crap on my person, and sick of figuring out how to take my plethora of skincare/toiletries with me in mini sizes (some items cannot be transferred).

Well bag fees for carry on luggage does not exist, so we don’t know. But I’d be fine with frequent travelers getting it for free.
The point is incentivizing people on leisure travel with 4 kids to check their luggage.

and it would be a bit difficult to implement, increase congestion at the gate counter, there would be a thousand spinoff threads on here about bitching about the agents being tied up collecting fees, have to get there earlier, blah, blah, blah

They do on basic economy or on spirit, which OP is undoubtedly flying.

Well, if they also allow leaving the plane from both ends, there is less of an incentive to sit in the front of the plane, so in that sense it would work.

Wait what? You’d pay for it the same place people now pay for checked luggage. At the kiosk.

Fly to Miami and check a bag. You won't see it for 3 hours...longer than the flight itself

Yea, when I don't check a bag, it isn't because i'm worried about the cost of doing so. It is because I don't trust that my bag will actually be there when I land. Had that happen far too many times.

OPs signaling to the OT that he's finally able to afford a plane ticket
Congrats, I guess

most people don't go to the kiosk, now they'll be bitching about that, how will the gate agent know who paid and who's trying to scam the system? which will undoubtedly happen

fricking douchebags spend 10 minutes hogging up the aisle trying to fit their oversized bag in the overhang. Stop being poor peasants and check your shite
Anyone that's bringing an oversized bag on board (something that takes up more than average space in the bin and/or does not fit under the seat) needs to be beaten. Repeatedly.
Barring that though, you must be travelling for the first time.
Pro tip: When possible pack everything into a correctly-sized rollerboard and bag that can fit under the seat in front of you, that way you don't have to wait at the carousel with the other peasants. There is great joy in leaving the plane then being able to walk directly out of the airport. (the trick is being able to pack correctly, I can get a week's worth of clothing plus toiletries in a rollerboard with no problem)

I've never had my bag lost, but I have sat down in the cellar of Miami airport for 2+ hours (from 11pm to 1am no less) waiting for a checked bag when I had carried, and they told me there was no room, made me check, then there was room.
I flipped my lid at AA

All it takes is one lost or damaged bag to realize that carry on is the way to go if at all possible. Carry on is freedom.
It literally takes me 5 seconds to stow a bag and I don't block the aisle.
