Don’t just pay it. If you do that it will go on your record and cause your insurance to go up. You can get a better deal if you talk to the DA. If they won’t dismiss it they will at least allow you to plead in such a way that it won’t go on your record. Plead to a non moving violation or if in Louisiana plead under article 894. That is what I would do.

No, no, no. 894 is for misdemeanor criminal convictions, not traffic. 892.1 is the permutation for traffic violations (and it's 893 for felonies, for those playing the home game).

But seriously, it's a speeding ticket. Unless you're doing 30+ over the limit or 20+ in a school zone, there's no reason to not expect a non moving violation if you're willing to pay the nice tax collectors wearing a black robe their fines and court costs.

mini-vans kicks any SUV's shite in as when hauling small kids around. Not as cool as 100k suburban though and momma might not put out as much if she has to be embarrassed in the school drop-off line.

I was doing a legit 74 in a 55 so he was right to nab me. If it was an easy out, I would take it, of course, but since it would require me going back into Marshall County for a court date

What... were you on old 78? Where else is there a 55 speed limit? Old 78 or maybe Highyway 7 or 311? I need to know where not to speed. I'm down that way or passing through a good bit.

It’s easier than that. Don’t show up. You don’t own operate the vehicle you were ticketed for speeding. Don’t waste your time.

No, no, no. They have personal notice to appear. The facts beyond that are irrelevant. If they don't appear, the Court can issue a bench warrant for them. Now, whether they will for a traffic ticket is jurisdiction specific, but it's really not something one should frick with.
