I believe Anderson was doing a report about why you shouldn't be out and about, driving etc. because you could accidentally fall into an area of deep water like he's in without notice.

The goat is the Kosinski canoe ‘incident’ on The Today Show where even creep Matt Lauer and Meredith crack up.. if you havent seen it, it’s the bottom gif and pretty much sums up media in this country these days. Find the entire segment. Glorious and NEVER gets old. Michelle was sent to Europe shortly after that and hasn’t been heard from on a national scale since then. Not her fault, mostly.
Television exists to sell advertising and create suspense and drama. And they are all panicking because it’s truly a dinosaur dying industry.
