That is exactly what I do. When getting ready for Beryl, I topped off my car and put in a small grocery order 3 days out before HEB was busy. I currently have 3 cases in my garage and it's just me at my house.

I think we forget that a lot of people out there don't have $$$ to contribute towards buying extra supplies until they are desperate.

Do you USUALLY order right before a hurricane?

Ordered Sunday and the storm is hitting Thursday. Water was just delivered though. Things probably aren’t as bad here in NW LA as where you are though. Went to Walmart early this morning for a few things and they had plenty of water.

How long till the gas stations are out of gas?!

It’s hilarious watching you ice boomers scramble to get gas before a hurricane. So glad I switched to an ev and don’t need gas stations anymore

What gets me is that people act like the only way to get water for a storm is by buying bottled water from the store. People do realize that you can fill just about any jug or container up with water right from the tap the day before the storm, don't they?

ETA: and don't forget to fill your bathtubs up so you have water to flush the toilets if needed.

I’ve been needing to fill up since last Thursday, kicking myself for putting it off until now. At least it’s diesel, so they won’t be out, but will still have to wait for the only two pumps with diesel.

Wonder how many still in the shipping box generators will be returned in SWLA this weekend? Was at Lowes this morning and saw people loading them up.

Buddy of mine is a manager at Rouse's. He always buys extra Chisesi ham to sell along with bread every time there's a hurricane or big weather event. Always sells out too.

Some people are smart to get their supplies early while they can. Others won't do anything and they will be the first one's screaming for help.

I went to rouses earlier and all they had was roast beef left, no bread except bakery stuff.

I did get the last buffalo style chicken breast so we’ll see how that is

Why are they panicking? Didn’t they listen to the experts who promised a super active season?

Went to the Wal Mart Neighborhood Market at lunch and all the water, toilet paper, etc., you’d think we werebp going to be hit by a Cat 5.

My wife went and filled up at 9:00 yesterday morning, which I expected she would. We sent my daughter to the store at noon yesterday to get the few things we thought we might need.

What I was proud of was my son, who is a freshman at LSU, going out and getting gas for his car a little after noon yesterday and calling me to ask if the price was good.
His roommates went to Sam’s yesterday and got a few cases of water to add to their supplies. They seem like they are going to have a great time tomorrow and Thursday without a care in the world at that age.

Laura was a cat 4 and tied for the strongest hurricane to ever hit Louisiana. Francine is a glorified storm.

Yeah, three cases of water is a real strain on the budget. A spare box of cheerios, two boxes of pop tarts. All budget busters. But the preorder for the new iPhone is probably already in, their nails are done, daddy has his bourbon collection, DoorDash twice a week, etc.

Why does the money suddenly appear? It is not exactly a surprise that hurricanes hit Houston or the gulf coast.

Stop making excuses for stupid people.

I like the Buffalo chicken breast. I’ll eat it on.a wrap with a little ranch and some cheddar cheese and sometimes add bacon. Heat it up slightly or eat it cold. Might even add avacado it I have one. Better than a ham or turkey sammich.

It's bizarre to me to see people who are whole parents of multiple children who do not appear to have food or TP in their home.

My mom's neighbor had to take the kids over to her house for them to get fed last time they lost power. They had nothing for the children to eat in the house. These are not poor people.

It's one thing to need a few extra things you may not normally keep a lot of on hand, but otherwise I don't get it. Especially seeing people I know who don't cook at home spending $$$$ on food. You just know their asses will be front and center lined up to dine out as soon as places open back up.

Me too! I like it even more than Rouse's version of Cajun Turkey.
