A Lanai is the covered back porch here in florida. The pool cage is the pool cage
and have you ever seen a covered back porch without a "pool cage" in Florida?

I stand by my assertion.

Image of Google search Lanai. Four of the images contain enclosed porches.

I was talking about this yesterday and got jumped on

yes I know that there’s been severe impacts already and my heart goes out to those folks - and it’s not over, but early on it looks like the worst case scenario has been avoided

Fighting a lot of dry air.

Like Duke mentioned earlier, the area where the winds are blowing directly onshore around Sarasota and Venice doesn’t really have actual storms to bring the strong winds to the surface. The areas with most storms have an offshore flow, so no storm surge.

Flash flooding is going to be a serious issue in the corridor from Bradenton/Tampa to Orlando, just due to the rainfall.

Checking in from Celebration FL where I live with nothing but retirees or Yankees.

So far no flooding. But having lived in BR during 2016 floods and then lived in Houston during 2017/Harvey, just expecting it at this point.

someone is going to have to explain to me the attraction of watching two dipshits in a car ride out a hurricane…are these guys just regular dudes with a camera?

It’s impossible to reach any conclusions until several hours after landfall. The surge continues for hours, just like tide. The eye is moving much faster than the water. New Orleans’ levees didn’t break until the next morning.

Maybe an ignorant question, but why is the majority of the storm to the north of the eye?

Why do people watch cars race around a track for hours on end? To see the crash of course. Human nature to want to see calamities live.

Dry air intrusion and wind shear have eaten up the southern side, making Milton lopsided.
