From grand isle up La1 to Raceland got hammered. Extensive damage to buildings that has stood through 40+ years of hurricanes. Power is gonna be a problem for a while. Poles down everywhere, trees down everywhere, roofs gone, not just shingles. It's pretty bad. But I think as far as life goes every one seems to be ok.

That's good. Feel for you. Your summary is a carbon copy of Lake Charles after Laura. I can relate. It's going to seem hopeless at first, but people are going to band together and help each other out. It will slowly get better each day.

Exxon refinery coming down. Last to go. Fuel might be an adventure, we shall see. Entergy decided to shut my power off at noon when the sun was still shining and the wind at 8-10 mph. Rocking pretty good right now.

Been underwhelming so far in BR, compared to they hype at least. Did a little porch sitting and it is actually nice outside in August.

Only sketchy thing is the window unit we installed in the bedroom for when the power goes out has wind howling in around it, those cheap plastic panels are moving a good bit when gusts pick up.

Wtf? Underwhelming means you were excited for something. Don’t be underwhelmed. Be thankful.

Heard that Entergy sent out a text message about “catastrophic damage” to their infrastructure.

Is this true?

Harahan near the river, wind is straight out of the south and not as strong as 1 - 2 hours ago, but the gusts are still very strong.

Rain also not as bad.

Roof damage all over this neighborhood, but minor in most cases. Pieces of tin roofs got peeled back from corners. I’m still hearing tin screeching when the wind gusts. Lots of flying shingles at the height of the storm.

Tree limbs down everywhere.

Denham springs checking in.

40-50 mph gusts

30 mph sustained

Just below 2” of rain and counting

Small power blip, generator kicked on for 2-3 minutes, then power came back on.

No damage but there are some big oaks whipping in the wind right now.

No signs of flooding.

The worst is yet to come.

And I’ve got the Vid or I’d be doing exactly what bluemoons is up to.

I heard they called for rescue - have to assume something other than cell was used - 2 or 3 hours ago and nobody could get to them at the time.

Got a feeling it's devastated. No reports even coming out. Won't get info till the morning. I heard they lost contact with the group of essential personnel a few hours ago.

Luling is a disaster zone. Roof damage is ubiquitous. Trees are defoliated or snapped. I’d be amazed if any fences are standing. Water from rainfall is starting to fill up ditches and canals.

Part of our roof is gone and water is streaming down through our HVAC system, into the walls, and down windows.

I’m lucky that we aren’t experiencing overtopped levees but I won’t count my chickens til they hatch.

Praying hard. Many tears are being shed and will be shed once this is over.

Hate reading this and know the feeling all too well. Your road to recovery will be long and emotionally taxing, but, trust me when I tell you, you have what’s important. You’ll learn just how “stuff” stuff is bud, so keep your chin up.

To all those, in now decimated locales, without flood insurance: get it now. I don’t care how high you are, I don’t care how old your home is, get flood insurance.
