All of the models have it tracking toward my area in West Palm Beach

Hopefully Hispaniola knocks some wind out of it.

I just got impact windows for the house in May so no more hurricane shutters for me.

Looks like this prophecy is coming true.

The last time a major storm passed Miami moving southwestward...

Well let's just say that a car in an underground canal was the least of our concerns. We were more worried about the cars on tops of houses.

Has a hurricane ever come into NOLA from due east? I remember thinking Erin was going to do that back in 1995 or 1996 but it ended up curving northward into the panhandle.

I would think riding the coast like that, it would tend to draw northward.

Smaller storms, sure.

Well it now looks like Hispanola is not the concern as much as Puerto Rico is. Now the official forecast takes it right over PR which will certainly disprupt circulation, not as much as the Dominican Republic but still disruption nonetheless.

Watching the NHC Director on facebook live... he's an older, balding, somewhat disheveled guy... that puts me at comfort a lot more than if it was some pretty guy in a suit.

yeah they still haven't recovered from maria over there. this isn't going to be as bad but they really don't need this. sure would be nice to go a hurricane season where nobody has to deal with shite for a change.

felt like we had an unusual period of calm now for the past 3-4 years it has been skullfrickery almost making up for that calm. I'm just waiting for the next big one to hit someone like new york. seems like they're the last one due for one and it's going to suck.

Was it Juan in 1985 or '86 which stalled off the coast south of Mobile then suddenly took off west through Lake Borgne and the Lake. Then eventually passing through Baton Rouge.

Edit: Not Juan and meant from the east(traveling west)
