How Would You Respond To This Email

Are you team teacher or team parent?
Email from teacher
Email from a parent
Email from teacher

Hello Class
Okay, I have been going through your grades. Let me just say this I don't have to see your face or even have you in my class to know who you are as a person. I know exactly who you are just by looking at your grades. Remember, life is not easy we must face challenges in our life Running away from your problems, making excuses or choosing not to do something because it is difficult does not make our world any better
Please take a look at your grade in PowerSchool. Think about it and ask yourself if you are doing the very best that you can? I will argue that a lot of are not. I will not put up with laziness and excuses and this next grading period will be different. Meaning I will not be accepting any late work when we start the new grading period
Now, what I want you to do is to make sure you get in your missing assignments today I will not accept anything after today because i have to finalize grades tomorrow. Also, come to class prepared Thursday with some questions or ideas about the last assignment you did (Peopling North Central and South America). I will expect a discussion and you will have to earn your participation points. You don't participate you don't get the participation grade
Thanks
Mr. ________
Email from a parent

This is ___________ ___________ mother, _________. And I have to say that during these times, your email was absolutely wrong & unprofessional! Yes you DO have to SEE someone to know who they are as a person
These kids grades do NOT deflect on a person's being, DURING THIS TIME. I could say a mouth full about the person you are just from reading this message but I'm not because I don't truly know you. You sir have NO IDEA what any of these kids are going through or struggling with & for you to make an ignorant post like this, is absolutely ridiculous. My daughter is originally an A & B student, the first 9 weeks, all Fs and why? Because she is not a face to computer learner!! Teachers do not reply in a timely manner to kids questions. There are multiple platforms for kids to submit assignments. This is most of all the kids FIRST time to do class online! EVERYONE is struggling! i'm a grown woman & I do online classes myself & it is very difficult but again, I'M GROWN. I have three kids home all doing online & it is a struggle for them & for me!! Nobody is running away from their problems, no one is making excuses, these kids are struggling! You will not come on here & make my child, nor any other child, feel less about themselves with your ugly post & ideas" of why they have bad grades. I am a medical assistant & we see a lot of children & I promise you, every single child I have spoken with since the kids have gone online are all struggling with their classes, are all depressed & not themselves because of this pandemic & because of this online crap. So instead of talking down to your students, how about you lift them up? Encourage them. Sympathize with them. Are you not awake & not know what is going on? I will be taking your post to the Principal or whoever needs to see it because the way you approached these children in
this message was wrong. Period!

I haven’t read anything yet....but probably on team Parent.
EDIT: Yeah team parent although her email is annoying.
In-person learning is critical especially for younger kids. I would have followed up by politely telling the lazy bitch to get back to work and stop having the parents take over teaching responsibilities with zero control over curriculum. Performance and attitude would improve if all the younger, healthier teachers got back to work.
I feel bad for those of you in that parent’s situation. You are paying taxes but not receiving the service. You’d be better off home schooling or finding a private school with teachers and staff that actually work.

Parent and teacher don't write or communicate well enough to think as highly of themselves as they appear to.

I'd have my secretary respond, of course.

Obviously, it was posted on my Facebook so I'm not 100% sure.

Shoot the teacher and the parent who sent the email. Both suck. The parent is a disgrace.
The teacher should’ve been on top of this a long time ago. Everyone is fricking enabling. Grow the frick up.

I think I agree with the teacher, mostly. But definitely disagree on her attention to punctuation.
I think I know all I need to know about both of them by their punctuation period

Well your daughter needs to learn how or else she'll never have a chance at a decent job in her life not to mention colleges are becoming more digital everyday.
Aside from that, the pandemic has exposed both the public school system and the parents who fail to support their kids in their schooling.

Parent is a Karen but teacher was kind of a dick in his email too.

Teacher is coming off like a lazy prick. Parent is clearly frustrated by picking up all of his slack.
ETA. I sympathize with the parent. I don’t sympathize with the teacher.

Teacher. Do your work. Turn it in on time. Don’t give a frick what you’re going thru. Don’t turn your assignment in, F.

Probably team student if this is true. The parent sounds annoying, but she isn't wrong about the impact of this stupid arse lockdown on a lot of kids. Guessing the teacher hasn't adjusted as much as he expects the kids to and sucks as an online teacher as much as apparently the kids suck as online students.
Eta
How old are these students? I'd feel marginally less sympathy for a HS kid, though they aren't immune to this massive change either.

I hate when adults say I’M GROWN.
re: How Would You Respond To This EmailPosted by OweO on 10/20/20 at 8:38 pm to pioneerbasketball
I don't have a kid so I can't say for sure, but it seems like parents are making excuses for these kids and as a result the kids are not giving their all.
The parent sounds like an idiot, but I would imagine that is probably mild compared to other emails parents send. But just from that email it seems like the parents are the bigger problem.
