I saw a percentage one time on an interview with FEDs from a documentary and was thinking, that’s got to be inflated badly.
I just remember thinking holy shite.
Apparently, not all serial killers go for generic suburban family. Some get a kick out of homeless folks, some were into prostitutes, etc. stuff that just doesn’t make the news

What is your definition of a serial killer?
If the definition is someone who has killed more than two people and has a high chance of killing again then there are currently thousands of serial killers in the neighborhoods of big US cities. Chicago alone has hundreds of serial killers.

There are 330 million people in the US so I wouldn't be shocked if it was several hundred currently living at any given time.
