I work 3 “12 hour” day shifts and one “12 hour” night shift every week.

In truth they are 13 hour shifts with 24 minutes combined commute to/from work(a blessing).

So 13.4 x 4 = 53.6 hours away from home every week.
However, after a night shift I spend 5-6 hours sleeping during the day when my family is awake,

So really I count that as 59 hours a week total given to my job.

Even so, I consider myself very fortunate as I am able to keep my wife home with our young children, we don’t struggle, and are able to save for retirement.

My commute is 7-15 minutes depending on traffic.
