Honest answer, sub 500 takes work.
Charging off a credit card won't get you there. Charging off an auto wont get you there.
You need consistent late payments.
Typically you're talking a charged off auto, and then a credit acceptance auto (they pick up anyone). At that point you have to stay consistently behind until charged off.
Usually the person will have dozens of credit inquiries because they don't understand it's a bad thing.
But it all comes down to credit cards. Because if someone does everything bad, but carries very little credit card debt, they can manipulate their score considerably.
Current GF is a ghost. She has had no credit in the past 6 years. But she has no concept of how to build her credit history/score. Her income is six figures MORE than mine, but she likely couldn't come up with 10k if she had to.
Where as for me, my available revolving is roughly what I make in 5 years. And if I had to make a large charge, I could pay it off as soon as a transfer went into my checking.
Eventually, I'll have her understand saving and manipulating her credit.
