They are having to choose between getting their grass cut, and buying food now. Horrible thing is, it's going to get worse before it gets better.
I have no doubt lawn service companies are hurting.. but that tweet was kind of dumb.
Going from charging $35-$40 up to $65 and only losing 25% of customers? That’s less work for more money..
Again I am sure they are hurting and the guy just had the numbers wrong..

Carter was taken advantage of because he tried to please everyone and be the nice guy that he was.
Don't go falling into that "Carter was a nice guy but just over his head" stuff. That gets echoed a lot on TD especially now that Biden has made Carter look good by comparison, but the truth is that Jimmy was not as naive and innocent as some make him out to be. Carter's M.O. was not to split up the pie, it was to make the proverbial pie 10 times bigger. And this is why he executive ordered standards in the transportation and O&G industries that were impossible to meet. Not to get too far in the weeds because this is not a Jimmy Carter thread or later on with the Embargo, but I cringe when people repeat this "Carter nice guy being misled" perspective. He knew exactly what he was doing and was not taken advantage of.

Trying to ruin the income of many good, hard working Americans while their pockets get bigger and bigger.
Well done Selfish Joe. Go frick yourself, bitch.

I truly hope that people take an honest assessment of the past 3 years, see who has been pushing for school shutdowns/remote learning, vaccine passports/requirements for entry into normal society, business closures, travel restrictions, and continued printing money to fund useless programs and remember that. Hopefully they will get more involved with local politics and actually look into who they are voting for on local and state elections.
We need a reckoning and an awakening and people need to take back control from those currently ruining things.
Case in point: I was looking at taking a cruise this Summer. Then I found out they all require vaccination for COVID. I'm just one of many that they won't get any money from. Restaurants in certain States are doing the same.

I hear we all just need to sit back and relax with a margarita and buy a Tesla.

At the end of the day, I think our country would have been just fine if the government would have recognized the problem in front of them and just cut spending.
If you cut spending from pet projects in order to actually provide assistance to Americans, we'd be in a much better place. But instead, we increased spending.
It's called a budget... Why should Americans be expected to have one when the government doesn't even have one.

I was mostly kidding. Plus, I already stated that I voted for a 3rd party clown.

One of my political science professors was a close friend of Carter and his family. Him and Carter grew up together in Plains.
I'll take his assessment of Carter's failings, which were many my professor admitted, over some political hit piece.

I hope the dumb asses that voted for him are feeling pain. They deserve it. Hopefully their feelings have healed from the mean tweets of one of the greatest presidents we've had.

Ultimately this is the taxpayers fault. Those who don't vote for it are powerless because taxpayers are using future dollars to bribe voters, and it works.
It's ridiculous that the US and state and local govts spend billions of dollars a year on wasteful spending that benefits virtually no one but themselves.

Not if your costs have gone up. If he was making $20 per lawn and is still making $20 per lawn, losing 25% of your business isn't more money for less work.

Yep. When we first planned the trip, I told him I would help out with fuel, he said not to worry. It was covered. Well...now it's a different story. He wants to split which would be cutting into our budget significantly.

If anything, costs are lower in this scenario (fewer yards, less travel to get to the yards).
Only variable costs are lower. And if his yards are all in one neighborhood then travel costs aren’t reduced. You only reduce the costs that go into each yard. Your fixed costs such as equipment notes, insurance, etc become a larger portion of the revenue for each yard with fewer yards.
There isn’t enough information to assume anything. It’s also possible he made a bad business decision raising prices too high thinking he could get away with it.

And then the Karen HOAs will put a lien on their home when they don’t get it cut often enough and can’t pay the fines so the house gets sold and they end up living with family or in a nursing home. Which will contribute to the coming housing crash as people try to sell to pay off debts and downsize and there will be a housing glut

I work maintenance at a condominium. The HOA has started paying for my gas each week for my commute. Still good people in this world that look out for a young working guy.

I don't even put it on the tax payer. No matter who we put in those positions, the screw it up for us and make it good for them... There is no difference in the parties. They are 1 party that only looks to increase their own net worth.
I've said it for a while, but the only way to fix any of this is to have these politicians tarred and feathered, put in stocks, and caned in the streets.
The old fashioned Duel should also make a comeback...
The government doesn't fear the American people like they should
