The residents don’t notice. Smell is one of the first things you lose on meth.

The landfill pretty much butts up to the interstate so it’s definitely more noticeable there. Most of Walker never notices unless the wind is blowing from the east or south/east.

And it's usually only in the morning. Sort of smells like natural gas.

No it’s 24/7. I smell it in my truck when passing thru on I-12 every day.

Cheap asses I used to work for moved our office from industriplex (5-10 min from the house) to walker (30-45 minutes from the house) a few years ago. They were less than a half mile from the landfill and it was horrid. It never smells the same so there is no getting used to it. Walker has got to be one of the trashiest, pun intended, places on the face of the earth.

Come on now.

Yea sure it's got it's problems like any other place, but hell my hometown was much trashier than Walker with a much smaller population.

Because Walker doesn’t have the same stellar mayoral leadership that Baton Rouge and New Orleans have.

Go to the Walker Walmart and then report back.

In the mid/late 1989’s, a train derailed just north of the interstate and dumped toxic chemicals. I’m pretty sure it was the Walker/Port Vincent exit. They had police cars lining the exit which, of course, was shut down.

I’m sure they just said “F it”, stole the Federal cleanup money, and declared the spot a landfill.
