How good are Bremont watches?

They have a nice look but are not Swiss? What kind of quality are they?
Thx.
Thx.

They are a good brand with a good reputation. In that price point I can think of several other Brands I prefer though.

Bremont is a VERY polarizing brand.
They use a lot of gimmicks like including materials from the Wright Brothers plane and Bletchley Park.
If you really like a Bremont they are a solid watch but in general, they tend to be overpriced even in the realm of Veblen goods which all luxury watches are. Knowing a specific model would help define the value a little better.
ETA their watches are a mixture of Swiss and British parts and labor (depends on the model) but the more English built they are the more desirable they will be for most watch enthusiasts though that is a very long story.

I think both the Alt1-c and zt51 are both nice looking watches. I have just never heard of them before.

quote:
Alt1-c
The ALT1-C is a fairly nice looking dressy two-register chronograph. The movement is a fairly mundane chronometer-rated Valjoux/ETA 7750 with a signed/decorated rotor. It is a fairly inexpensive cam-operated chronograph movement that can be found in watches much cheaper. One quirk that people love or hate about the 7750 is it has the "7750 wobble". Being a unidirectionally wound movement with the right flick of the wrist, by accident or on purpose, the rotor can spin wildly in the non-winding direction and can be heard and felt. Some people think it makes the watch feel alive some think it seems cheap. It doesn't bother me and when I wear one of my 7750 based watches I often find myself unconsciously spinning the rotor.
It is a big watch at 43mm and 16mm thick, the thickness, in particular, is a turnoff to a lot of people. In the end, IMO it is overpriced.
The ALT1-ZT is also a 7750 based watch with a GMT module and an internal GMT bezel. It uses the same hardened steel as the ALT1-C so it will show fewer scratches than the average 316 stainless. It is more useful, especially if you travel, given the GMT display.
Again if you like the look and the prices fit your budget they are not bad watches though not a great value. If you like the aviation-style then I would also look at IWC and you can't really look at mid-level chronographs without giving the Omega Speedmaster line a look. The Speedmaster Moonwatch variants are THE iconic chronograph in and around that price point.
To illustrate my personal perspective I own 23 brands of watches now and have owned over 80 brands and I have never had the slightest inclination to buy a Bremont. Again they are very polarizing and depreciate rather steeply neither are necessarily any reason not to but them.
ETA adding some pictures that may or may not be the colorway the OP is looking at

Not a Lex but good for next level down in society.

How do you upkeep your watches, factory service?
I’m amazed how much damage a watch can sustain over years of use. I guess movements have wear parts just like anything else mechanical.
My everyday is back in Germany for a rebuild.

Thx! I recently took my wife watch shopping and she was choosing between brietling super ocean 57 heritage in gold, IWC spitfire chronograph or breitling avi ref 765 heritage. She decided on the super ocean.

I still have not forgave Bremont for the "in-house movement" debacle.
However, as I've aged and become further removed from the watch nerd community, it has become less important to me to justify a purchase based on perceived value (i.e., why get this Bremont when you can get this JLC/IWC/etc. for the same price and it has an in-house movement).
So, to answer the OP's question. They are "quality," in that the watch isn't going to break or anything if you use it within specs. It is not like we are using these watches the way that they were intended to be used under any circumstance. Whether it is worth the price is a question only you can answer.

Omega Sea Master and G-Shock Mud Masters are my watches of choice.
