Handles up and I judge anyone that does it the way where all the forks/knives are sticking up at you

I judge someone that can't avoid sharp objects.

If you wash everyday up/down is less of an issue but if you do handles down will expose the dirty parts to more water pressure. We always put steak knives and forks in the back just in case and then dinner knives go in the front and spoons are spread out to prevent them nesting. We only run the dishwasher a max of twice a week unless we happy people over to eat and fill the DW up.

Spoons and things like measuring cups which also go in that section, handles down. Forks and knives, handles up.

Spoons, forks, and butter knives handles down. It simply cleans better as the portion that touches food the most isn't buried in the basket. Sharp knives go down in their own little basket so my kids don't poke themselves.

Forks or knives business end up

Spoons you gotta alternate or they will cover each other up and not get clean

Pretty sure my wife however just loads all the silverware into a cannon and shoots it into the dishwasher

Everything pointed up except sharp knives (if we don't wash them by hand). Makes it faster to unload.

Handles up for butter knives and knives. Down for everything else.
My dishwasher separates each utensil. This is the only way I can load.

So the first thing you do with your clean silverware is put your hands all over the part you put in your mouth or cut food with?
