It's going to be really hard to define generations like this because you are essentially saying that a 1981 millennial is more similar to a 2000 millennial than to a 1980 Gen X, which would never be the case.

I dearly love my father who was injured in Germany and came home to build a better world. Pres. Johnson on the other hand totally screwed up the Vietnam war. Boomers won that war. Johnson mismanaged it and then gave it away.

Just to sum up your stance, something as innocuous as labeling generations is somehow divisive, but using a pejorative to describe those you disagree with is not divisive because you think you can justify it in your mind.
