How Do You Divide Up The Generations?

It seems like everyone has their own timeliness regarding what generation someone is in. Some pretty simple other a little less. Personally I like it easy and simple
1941-1960 Boomers
1961-1980 Gen X
1981-2000 Millenials
2001-2020 Gen Z
1941-1960 Boomers
1961-1980 Gen X
1981-2000 Millenials
2001-2020 Gen Z

Don’t agree with this - boomers start in 1945, really 1946- that’s the point bc they were part of the baby ‘boom’ after the war
Those born before are old, too, but not boomers

The whole thing about dividing up the generations is arbitrary and kind of pointless. For example someone born in 1960 is linked in with someone born in 1941 but someone born just a year later is lumped in with people born in 1980. It’s not necessary, how hard is it to just base it off of the year someone was born and the time they grew up in based off of that as opposed to these arbitrarily defined generations?

Who your parents are is rarely taken into account. I'm a couple of years older than my wife but my parents came of age in the fifties and early sixties. She was a late in life child of WWII generation parents. In some ways our outlooks are radically different. For instance she is much more reluctant to adopt new technology.

I’m gen x so predisposed to not give a frick

Interesting, I have never really considered that in that way. But it of course makes sense. I can definitely see how the age of one’s parents could have an effect on one’s outlook. Cheers bro.
