Three people were shot Wednesday evening at North Claiborne Avenue and Canal Street, the New Orleans Police Department said. The wounded were taken to a hospital in a private vehicle after the 5:15 p.m. violence, which erupted at a busy intersection two blocks from University Medical Center. Police placed more than 50 evidence cones at the scene. Sue Strachan was stopped at a traffic light near Canal Street when she heard too many shots to count. "It was just so many shots," Strachan said. "I was wondering when it was going to end, honestly." All she could do was duck in her car. There was a brief break of gunfire, but soon it resumed and she ducked back down. Police did not immediately identify the wounded or release information on a motive or suspects.

Photos in the story show they were shooting rifles. We are one step away from Mexico Cartels at this point. They aren’t even waiting for the cover of darkness to light it up.

3 blocks away from my office and I had just just left an hour earlier. Passed that location exactly to get to I-10 westbound at City Park. Crazy.

in reality you're just as likely to be caught in that specific crossfire as a jefferson or st tammany parish resident
