How come Brodie knobs aren’t standard manufacturers trim options?

I thought they were illegal in Louisiana, but it looks like they aren't.

Until you get in a wreck and the airbag deploys sending that thing hurtling across the vehicle like a missile. Now a days your steering wheel is basically a grenade. Best to not add any shrapnel to the system.
