This board really loves to look in others pockets all the while acting like they never heard of generational wealth.

I make $140k per year and my wife works part time as an attorney, contributes an additional $60k or so per year from that. We’ve got baby number two on the way and she’s going to take several years off from work to be with the kiddos while young. Think it’s the right thing to do but god damn am I nervous about making her law student loan payments. Gonna be an interesting few years. That plus catholic elementary school… smh.

it's "generational wealth" and there's way more of it than people think, especially in the south.

it was pretty shocking to see all of when i moved to the south from the midwest as a kid.

Sure thing but you’ll typically inherit that once your parents pass. If you spend it on 90k cars and shite that generational wealth will disappear pretty fast.

Jokes are cringe now?

There are a lot of people who live in houses and drive cars that are obviously outside of the perimeters of being afforded by their job. Obviously there were some gifts from mom and dad or inheritance there.

if you have a retirement secured and a healthy down payment on a house as a gift... an engineer/accountant/small business owner salary can stretch pretty far. but yeah it's probably not wise to spend so much on vehicles

I'm friends with a late 20's married couple that drive expensive vehicles and live in an above average home. You would think they are drowning in debt but they bought a starter home for $180K and put about $30K in renovations(her husband did 90% of the work) and ended up selling it a year later for $480K.

They paid cash for their next home so they don't have a mortgage, their kids are in a good public school and the youngest is being watched by the grandparents who are retired. The only bills they have are their vehicle notes.

Wow I didn't know anything in LA jumped that much. Nola?

Family has sold 4 in the past few years in greater BR area. Some decent increases but not doubling the purchase price.

You learn strategies for living on less. There are lots of ways to save. Growing some of your own food, planning meals around what is on sale, finding better deals on insurance and internet service, doing some of your own home repairs, etc
