More than you know. Math and science and engineering profs are having to include a basic computer operations primer in their courses because new students don’t understand a simple filesystem hierarchy:

Catherine Garland, an astrophysicist, started seeing the problem in 2017. She was teaching an engineering course, and her students were using simulation software to model turbines for jet engines. She’d laid out the assignment clearly, but student after student was calling her over for help. They were all getting the same error message: The program couldn’t find their files. Garland thought it would be an easy fix. She asked each student where they’d saved their project. Could they be on the desktop? Perhaps in the shared drive? But over and over, she was met with confusion. “What are you talking about?” multiple students inquired. Not only did they not know where their files were saved — they didn’t understand the question. Gradually, Garland came to the same realization that many of her fellow educators have reached in the past four years: the concept of file folders and directories, essential to previous generations’ understanding of computers, is gibberish to many modern students.

Im genuinely shocked that the "bosses" know they are GenZ. Usually, all Boomers call everyone under the age of 50 a millinial
Do you know how old boomers are? Most of your hiring and middle managers are going to be Gen X or Millennial, depending on the size of the organization.

A local charter school I do some consulting for recently had 20 staff members walk off the job with no notice. All are Gen Z and recent college grads.

If you think about being 25 right now with AI coming out I can see why some of them lack motivation.

...and a lot of Gen Z'ers (some who post here) think anyone over 40 is a Boomer.

Wasn't tHe BlOcKcHaIn supposed to take all our jerbs and "change finance" a few years ago? Where are we with that?
The reality is AI will have some impact but it is very overhyped and oversold imo.
It will reduce but not eliminate the need for humans.
In my industry, offshoring is much more of a threat....the real threat is Actually Indians and not the machines.

You mean people who spend 99% of their time interacting via text and the social media cesspool can’t communicate? I’m shocked

More jobs for us "old" people
I am not sure I follow this line. You want an entry level job past 40?

Yep, try asking one what cloud storage is compared to saving something on a local device. Most don't know. They use stuff often but don't have a clue what it's actually called.

I especially love when people it say it will take over medicine, law, accounting etc imminently.
That won't happen until with hit AGI, which could very well never occur.

Terrible.
They also can't google for shite. They are so bad at what they like to say "searching it up."

This may be true, but it is also true that google is fricking horrible these days. Was 1000x more useful a 10-15 years ago.

We just hired 3 gen Z'ers and I'll tell you I'm pleasantly surprised.
All of them have good work ethic, come to the office everyday, dress nicely and can communicate well.
What are their majors?

Im pretty sure this has been said about every generation as they start to enter the workforce. I’m 34 and heard the same thing about millennials, my sister heard the same thing about Gen X.
I’m a work comp adjuster. Most people don’t want to work, regardless of age. Young people just get hired to new jobs more frequently.
