Has there been a health insurance cost increase thread lately?

Didn't find one in the search.
Found out yesterday, our cost is going up 9% on the employee, plus a $250/pp surcharge if you carry a spouse that has another insurance option. We get paid every 2 weeks, so $500/month penalty for carrying a spouse that has another option.
No warning, no advance notice about it, and while most companies do open enrollment in October, we are just now doing it.

Makes no sense, given that health insurance companies most likely enjoyed their largest profits in years in 2020.

my company changed insurance companies and a family plan went up $8/month. I guess I can't complain too much.

Mine was like $5 cheaper per pay period than last year's enrollment.

Ours went down about 3% but I’m still paying $467 per pay check.

Find a new job. With the mobile options now, you aren't tied to a bad company.

I think mine is something like $20 more per month.

We got rid of health insurance a few years ago. All you need is a good first aid kit, a well stocked medicine cabinet, and YouTube for anything that those can’t handle.

As they should penalize those not smart enough to realize the 50% discount received with their company plan.

Sounds like a shitty benefit package from your company.
Is this really last minute, when do the new costs go in place?
Insurance at my company went up 6% and the employer ate the employee costs. Employee's already pay 100% coverage for any dependents.

Self insured is the way to go. Company pays their own claims, rents a network. With a HDHP tied to an HSA with a company match.

This is a HDHP, and our match continues to shrink. We lose benefits each year. I'm too close to retirement to leave.

Mine went up $2500 a year.
