Has ANYONE EVER gotten an IRS tax resolution from one of those companies?

I never tried. The guy in the commercial on the radio only says the phone number 17 times and it takes 18 times for me to remember.

I know an older guy who used an attorney to help with back taxes and dropped them. He said his attorney fees were worse than his taxes. I guess he thought they would negotiate it down more.

The ones that do all the National advertising can do no more than a good local tax preparer or CPA. Despite what they advertise, there is no “new” program; Fresh Start is old.

This is one that you can just do yourself by contacting the IRS and filling out the forms and working the process.
That is all they are doing.
No secret expert magic on this one. The IRS doesn't negotiate with these people and its the same offer in compromise you would get by doing it yourself.
And very few people even qualify for that.
Basically a total scam. You can just have your accountant pull the right forms for instead if you dont want to look it up yourself.

Those companies all are scams. I'm a tax attorney and we laugh at those firms. They promise the world to clients and don't deliver. They also charge the same (or more) as tax attorneys.

I'm going to give it a try and report back soon. Right now, my focus is on our class action with the Boy Scouts and Zantac.

FIL, tax man, explained this to me once, he said the only way they deal is if the person doesn't have a cent left to their name, or the settle for the few cents left.

Kind of like that scam on the MSB where some douchebag promised he’d self ban over a Florida State bet and then he bailed on the bet and changed his FSU favorite team to Army in an attempt to avoid the non stop criticisms.

Well, after nine years, it is only a matter of time. It does not go away. As soon as someone reports any of your income, they will find you ...... and any bank accounts you may have. Enjoy it while you can.
