Has anybody ever given to a "employer sponsored" cause and it paid off?

Employer sends out notice its started some group to affect change, lobby congress, etc. It's all stuff that impacts our line of business.
Essentially a Political Action Committee
They're looking for employees to donate with suggestions based at your level in the company.
Of course, the standard verbiage is this won't impact you, can't be hindered, etc.
Has anybody ever given to this stuff or United Way and actually seen a benefit in major corporations?
Seems like I need to make small contributions to "pay your way". Maybe I'm just reading into things.

I remember thirty plus years ago, a bit of the old man's paycheck went to the United Way.
Could it be a tax write-off perhaps?

Is this recurring or a one-time thing?
Sorry, is this United Way or a PAC your employer started? Two completely different things.

I donated to our United Way fundraiser but it was all bs. It is nothing but publicity for the company or to support their cause. You will get no recognition or benefit of it.

It says you can't be hindered. It doesn't say you can't be helped.
Gotta pay to play the corporate ladder game.

Old company used to push this, I never donated or pushed it.
Wasnt in my job description and wasnt in any of the performance or yearly review information.
Wasnt about to force it down peoples throats.

It seems like it is a way for the company to take credit for people giving their own money.

This is what I am thinking. $25/paycheck seems to be the cost of doing business.

Teddy, please explain how a corporation is taking a tax deduction for money a customer donates.

Does your employers PAC agree with your personal political opinions?
