So after reading the article, if the OIG is involved they had to have a referral. Generally those come from two sources on local government level:

1. Auditors/Audits
2. Agency/City Employees or Elected Officials

Be interesting to see where this originated.

Without a doubt. He might be doing his own deal cutting.

Well whatever the source, the OIG scope is never limited and that's what always concerns employees and officials.

So for instance, they pull on thread but that could lead to several other places with several other investigations.

I would be frankly shocked if this came from a Council Member unless they that confident everything is above board. Its almost always an audit or employee.

The council passed a motion to call in the IG

Cantrell’s Achilles heal is financial management and her desire to live large.

She didn’t pay her property taxes.
She demands and justifies flying first class on taxpayers dime.
She lives rent free in a multi million dollar apartment.
She had lavish parties in city owned property that she calls official events but really just entertainment for her and her posse.
She has drivers take her to fancy restaurants and bars.
She goes to all the big events and hangs with celebrities.

It’s always other peoples money too. She creates “non profits” to run interference for her to spend as she wishes. The non profits are smoke screens.
she never intended to use that money legitimately. She’s always looking for ways to spend it to her benefit by coding the expense under some legit code. She’s an entitled politician with a voracious appetite for the big life.

Confront her and she throws black and female in your face as though she’s justified.

All that depends on which end you're referring to. Even for the end of this one alone, most will say it's worth it.
However, there were plenty before her and will be plenty who want to do the same after her, which if this puts an end to that or at least minimizes it for future shitty politicians because it sends a message, then it is far worth it, even financially.
