Had a moment with someone who's life matters today

My wife was driving her car (I was in the passenger seat), and an african american woman came down the mall parking lot row the wrong way. We were going to pull in a parking spot but she blocked our car from turning. My wife rolled down her window and asked the lady to back up so we could pull in the spot. Instead, the woman pulled up more and towards our vehicle (only inches away) running her mouth. My wife said we aren't moving and we will wait, and the lady wouldn't move either. Finally after a couple minutes, my wife said to me it's not worth it, she doesn't feel like getting shot or have her car messed with. So she inched around and barely had any room to get around.
I told my wife I wouldn't have gave in. I would have sat there. I looked for the lady after we found a spot to go off on her, but couldn't find her.
I've seen videos of people acting like that. I just don't get it.
What would you do in that situation?
