Grocery store beggar/scam?
Have any of you encountered this? I live in Dallas and the homeless problem where I live is pretty bad.

Had a rough week at work and stopped by the store to grab a couple of things to cook...Walking down the meat/fish aisle when some guy waves me down from across the store. I had my airpods in so I didn't hear what he said intially but it was something like "Hey brother do me a solid and pay for this"

He starts to put his hand in my basket to place the deli meat in there and I flipped the frick out. Told him to get the hell out of here and to not bother me in the grocery store. He starts mouthing off saying I must be from New York or Boston (I guess because they are rude?)

The thing is he had the same deli meat in his other hand...

So was he just trying to pay for the deli meat and then return mine? I just assumed he was trying to frick me over when he only asked me to pay for one.

Never heard of someone putting their stuff in a persons cart and asking them to pay.

Seems like a good way to get slapped

Any “homeless” person I encounter I just offer them a can of Alpo, that’s regardless of if they have a dog or not

Is this a gay thing? It sounds like a gay thing. I read it twice and still don’t know what’s going on . The meats and baskets, sounds like euphemisms.

I don't know that's why I'm asking. I'm assuming since Deli meat is fairly expensive that something was up. Who buys 1 pack of deli ham and asks someone else to buy the other

He said he was at the grocery, not the pool

re: Grocery store beggar/scam?
I had a nice old lady get a little upset with me that I wouldn’t buy her a pint of ice cream at the Piggly Wiggly a couple years back.

She just handed me the pint and asked me to buy it. Had to be 85+ years old. I told her I didn’t have any cash (what I generally say when approached). She responded that I could just purchase it with my groceries and give it to her.

I said no. Mainly because I was just thrown off by how odd it was (she was going to buy the rest of her groceries I think). I probably should have bought her the ice cream.

Young dude and deli meat and I’m probably just leaving the store because this sounds like some kind of setup.

Who returns deli meat?

What’s the scam? I think he’s just trying to get someone to buy his stuff. He would give the other meat to someone else.

Next time say "don't worry, bruh, I gotchu". And then when you check out hand it to the cashier and tell them "oh sorry I didn't need this".
