So people who aren’t diabetic are legitimately getting Mounjaro prescribed?

I know it’s super impactful for diabetes patients. But I don’t think we know the long term impacts of this drug well enough to just give it to everyone.

Losing and gaining weight over and over also damages the gallbladder. It's less about the GLP itself and the large weight loss that typically comes with it.

Well I see it all the time, so yeah Mingo- I believe it. It’s amazing sometimes how peoples life’s open up when they put down the twinkies and start getting interested in their own health.

Would I rather everyone do it the other way? Sure. But hey, whatever works.

My position on this solidified last year.

You should only do this if you have the means to take them forever.

If you don’t have the means to take them forever, once you’re off of them, your relationship with food will remain unchanged. And the reason you’re fat is because you use food as a crutch.

Figure out why you want to eat so much in the first place.

Sounds like they are trying to ruin their credibility.

I have zero problem exercising but want immediate results which I know don’t happen.

Once excess weight is off it’s easy to keep it off with just a little excercise and smart eating.

Exactly... plus exercising at a healthy weight is a far easier task than trying to walk a treadmill at 350lbs.

And, a lot of chronically overweight/obese people lose hope that their situation can actually change... once they see changes and that it IS possible, that can definitely inspire them to put work in to further reach their goals.

This is patently not true for most people.

And they are embarrassed. Tons of morbidly obese people come home from work and are basically shut ins because they are embarrassed to walk around the neighborhood at 3 bills.

This is an ignorant and simplistic take on a complicated problem. Once you’re morbidly obese for years and you have trained both your mind and your body to deal with problems by craving junk foods and high calorie binges coupled with a life of bad dietary decisions it is so incredibly easy to slip back into bad habits and balloon up again before you know it. You are not mentally or physically capable of dealing with staying thin without dedicated effort and training and reprogramming of your physical and mental needs and reflexes. And even then it is a daily struggle akin to sobriety from drug addiction .

These people need help not some quick weight loss from pills.

Ideally these patients would be treated with multi-pronged therapy.

Not every fatty has an intractable food addiction.

But yes, dealing effectively with weight loss and health maintenance requires multiple approaches used in tandem. No reason these shots can't be part of the package.

Yeah my doctor (and close friend) was telling me a lot of the issues seem to be based around overly high dosages of the drugs.

Funny enough these pills have possibly shown to re-wire the brain in the way you were describing.

If any of them are reading this, I’ll just say most of us who workout and see big people working out cheer them on. I like when I see someone putting in effort. I’m not gonna say anything to them because that’s not my place, but in my head I am glad they are out there. I like seeing people outside and moving.

I don’t believe that part of your comment about strenuous excersise.

How come in other countries people aren’t as fat? Is everyone else doing strenuous excersise to stay skinny or not morbidly fat?

Many morbidly obese people , after a 100 lb weight loss caused by a GLP-1, will discover diet and exercise.

There’s no way you actually believe this
you're so cynical. you think they should discover exercise when they're 100lbs overweight and would probably injure themselves in the first 10 minutes?

maybe they do, maybe they dont, but they have a better shot at getting in shape without a 100lb weight on top ruining their knees and in general preventing proper workout techniques.

Okay I can see that. I can see how those people could have obesity related issues far worse than the potential impacts of this drug too.

But not everyone that’s taking this stuff is morbidly obese apparently. I thought it was just for diabetics and the rich Hollywood jerks. But apparently it’s damn widespread.

If you are trying to just lose 30 lbs maybe this isn’t the right option.
