I worked in radio in BR way back in the day and knew Bryan fairly well back then. Also knew Roland from that but didn’t realize he was Jeff’s brother. Hell I didn’t know Bryan was Rag until after he passed.
Jody, we played baseball against each other in high school (I was at Belaire) and I also crossed paths with your dad more times than I can count and got to know him a little. He was a great guy and I always enjoyed seeing and talking to him.

turns out it was Bob Allen (Karate instructor) they said he kicked the crap out of both of them.
Completely unrelated to the topic but I went to school pretty much from elementary to high school with Bob's son. He was kinda quiet and laid back. Everyone knew he could probably wreak some havoc if he wanted so even the bullies left him alone through junior high until some thugs in high school decided to hit him up for some money and pretty much got in his grill. Well it was a very bad decision. Probably worked out about like your friend and his brother.

It was on the second floor at the top of the “down” escalator. You can see the escalator in the video.
Thank you. I started flying in the late 90's and didn't recognize the area. Amazing that happened there.

I would have been four when it happened and I always knew about it but don't remember it actually happening.
One thing I do vividly remember was being around my dad and some of his friends and on the news was something about police catching a child molester and my dad saying "if that we're my kid I'd Gary Plauche his arse"
I'd be willing to bet your dads actions probably saved another child from being molested because you know a dude who was thinking about acting on it didn't for fear he'd be killed too.

Could have easily killed the other guy walking beside him
I went to grade school with his kids. I remember hearing stories about it then.

I'm here...but I do have something to share.
A lot of people remember watching the news that night and some were not born yet and have only seen the footage. I have the unedited version on my website.
I guess about a year ago I discovered on YouTube video footage of the news broadcast from March 16, 1984.
The police had yet to notify my mother. She found out when the tease to the 10 o'clock news said, "Unknown assailant guns down alleged kidnapper...details at 10pm"
WBRZ Channel 2 March 16, 1984
I saw that on the news when it aired back then. While I am opposed to vigilante justice as a rule it is hard to fault you for that.
Hope you and your family are well.

I went through some things as a child also at the hands of a family member. You being open and discussing it helps more people cope than you can imagine. Your dad also taking the actions he did saved other kids and helps bring attention to the evil that lurks among us.
Kudos to you and your family

Jody, good on your dad for doing what so few would have done. My uncles were cops in Monroe and West Monroe at the time, the entire force was behind him. He saved everyone a lot of time and money for that sick motherfricker to be taken out via death penalty. In my opinion, he is are a true American hero. I’m glad you lived to tell the tale.

It's weird because most sexual abuse survivors are not comfortable talking about.
But thanks to ole Daddy (I don't say that in a bad way) I couldn't keep my secret hidden. I had to address it at 11 years old.
So talking about it...especially having written a book about...at age 50 is no big deal.
Kudos to you. The more people that are open about their abuse, the more people that will feel comfortable and not hide behind what they see as shame.
I see you post on her for quite a few years and always wanted to tell you how much I admire your strength.

Actually doing what very few who come on here and brag they would do in real life. The man was a hero!
This x 100. He didn’t talk about doing it he went out and did it. Legit hero.

I worked at the same company as Gary, when that happened. I remember being a really young man at a company cook out and “whispering” to the other workers ahead of the company cook out about “the dude that killed the guy on tv was coming”…Now I was a new guy, but the rest had worked with Gary for years…And…as those folks did back in the day, they utilized that as joke fuel…Let Gary in on it when he arrived. Sitting in the lunchroom staring straight-forward, no eye contact…Gary walked up behind me, using his finger to the back of my head and whispered something…(insert your imagination)…I literally nearly pissed my pants…Then laughter erupted and we ate and drank beer! Was a solid guy! He definitely got me that day!
When I run into any of those guys, that are still alive…They all would laugh and put a finger behind my head…
We all say that’s what we would do, but only about 2% have the sack to do it…Gary was a funny kind man…But had brass balls…I wish I could’ve talked about it with him as a grown man, but I left about a year later, then got word when he died.

The greatest part is that smug look on his face right before he kissed the carpet.
