I mean, if that story was true and I was the boyfriend I would have gotten a lawyer as soon as she was reported missing. Even if I had a good explanation, im not saying a word until an attorney tells me to.
Of course, the more likely scenario is he knows something and is covering his arse. But in the context of that hypothetical story, I think it’s reasonable that he lawyered up even knowing he’s totally innocent of any wrongdoing.

No part of the story makes him lawyer up. The Constitution affords him that unfettered right. The thing that compels him would be incompetent cops, corrupt DAs (most of these law school b0ttom dwellers are dirty at worst and unethical at best), and dumb jurors.

Why didn’t he notify the police in the state he last saw her and at the time he last saw her? At least let the lawyer communicate that information to them if you love your girlfriend and want her found.

I vote something like this. They were probably doing something stupid, OD, or some dangerous edge of a cliff type selfie, etc. that got her killed, and he panicked and left.
