I love that two years after paying thousands to replace my own AC, my tax money will pay to do it for others.

East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sid Edwards will hold a news conference on Wednesday to launch a new program that will fix or replace eligible residents' air conditioning units for free, a news release said.
The new "Operation Stay Cool" initiative aims to protect vulnerable residents from extreme summer heat. The funding will come from the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Details on how to apply will be released later; criteria include income and other factors.

LIHEAP Is a federal program that’s available in all 50 states. All your BR City-Parish officials are doing is helping administer the benefits to it’s constituents

It’s taxpayer funded, not free.

This is why I’m done voluntarily paying taxes. Nothing is fricking “free”. Those of us that pay freaking taxes are basically gifting those that don’t a free new AC unit (inside and outside if they have to replace one or the other, by the way). Where in the constitution does it state that every citizen is owed a free AC unit in their home?

While I don’t agree with it, if the Feds are paying for it we better get the funds because sure as shooting they will piss it away on something else.

It’s no doubt window units.

Where did the money come from to buy these “free air conditioners”? Perhaps a journalist might ask this question.

Where does “LIHEAP” get the money then? Did it just fall out of the sky?
