France sorry for the bad things they said during the Iraq war so they’re sending a gift
LINK

quote:

France is sending a new Statue of Liberty to the US for July 4, but this time it's mini Ten-foot replica is stopping by NYC before it gets settled in Washington, D.C.

quote:

In an email to Fox News, French Ambassador Philippe Etienne wrote, "I am truly honored to receive this symbol of the friendship of the French and American peoples." He went on to add that the Statue of Liberty is a symbol that "enlightens the world" and has "a value [that’s] still so necessary."

I’d rather have a ten foot tall Jobu statue.

France was right.

We had no business invading Iraq.

We also had no business joining World War 1.

We have a rich history of getting involved in matters that do not pertain to us.

Of course we didn't. But that's what happens when you elect the first openly progressive president.

They love to make others pay for their ideological crusades.

Bull shite. I know we live in this weird world now that is turned on its head. But just a few years ago we understood that we the lone global superpower and we had to face down dictators and evil worldwide. Going to war in Iraq was about sending a message around the world that we would not stand for instability and a destruction of order. It was the right thing to do then and it is still the right thing today. We are the global check against tyranny.

imagine supporting the Iraq war in 2021. after everything we learned about it. and everything that's happened there since.

because we all know how we took that famously unstable Iraqi government, and turned it into a stable, model middle eastern democracy. nope. No instability there!

How you figure that!?!
Is it jim dandy for them to sink every American merchant ship that they could in the eastern Atlantic? Because that is literally what they had started to do. It had just become their official policy.

I hate Wilson as much as the next guy but he used diplomacy to get them to stop after the Lusitania incident in 1915. Then there was a military coup in Germany and they started sinking everything.

Literally no choice but to mobilize for war after that.

Absolutely right, it only made Islamic Extremism worse but the extremism that was there before should have been nipped in the bud long before that.
