My buddy's ex wife became a millionaire after they divorced. She still busted his balls for that $850 per month of child support though.

While she might not need it, it is for the child. Part of owning your responsibility.

I'm amazed that so many men are so eager to enter into what amounts to a business contract whereby whenever she's ready to leave she gets half your shite

It’s no surprise that the people who view it as “half your shite” end up getting divorces.

And as a woman I think it’s awful that women do this crap.

She is entitled to half of your retirement as well

As I'm entitled to 50% of the house(buy me out, or sell, or I buy her out)

And all assets and debts are all 50% regardless if one or the other or both cheated, doesn't matter.

Best thing to do is cash out before separation if you know it's coming or if you have a trusted sibling or parent to hold (hide) your assets(retirement, bank accts) then go that route until smoke clears. Open PO Box for these hidden accounts in your parents name. When all child support is done...profit.

So side question but what happens to retirement, investments, property etc. that is owned before the marriage? 50/50 only pertains to assets acquired during the marriage correct?

Before marriage all is 100% yours including all inherited property. AND the wedding ring you bought her is YOURS too!

It's what is accumulated from day of marriage until date of separation (not divorce date) that is 50/50. Assets and debts even if you own a business. Does she really want to own the unpaid debt (the 90 day accounts that are still due). I think not unless she is stupid.

Can a prenup be made to limit the amount she gets on investment income or retirement accrued during the marriage?

I can vouch for this.

My ex paid a good bit of money for getting rid of some of my stuff because she decided she didn’t want it in the house anymore.

Like I said, best if you have a living parent(s) or sibling to put some assets in their name as a just in case she goes bat shite crazy. As a man and if I had a do over, I would absolutely do this to hide assets until she passes her menopausal state(could be mid 50's) then I might start slowly transfer to a Roth or some kind of mutual fund in my name but still to a secret PO Box.

I believe the Adam and Eve story is truly something all men ought to heed as a warning of the wily guile of a woman. Not to be trusted.

Prenup is highly recommended from me! If she won't sign, then hide your stuff so you can get in her stuff assuming her stuff is worth it, if you know what I mean.

Well, I'm no lawyer, so that part is above my pay grade. Plus I don't know how prenups work if you move from one state to another either...that's a lawyer question.

If the woman is aware of this, she is technically supposed to get 50%. However.. If you are resilient enough/committed enough to the lie, there's no way for them to get into your hardware wallet.

It’s horrible. La family courts are bs on their best day. I pay 1600 a month plus I carry the insurance and pay 75% of additional expenses. For 1 kid! The entire la court system is a dumpster fire.
