That's the problem right there, you don't think what happened decades ago matters, but it most definitely does. That's what I'm here to show you. That's what I mean when I say "It's bigger than Mike Brown, this has been brewing for a long time". And I don't think it's a joke because it can only get worse from here and your kids and grandkids will be left to deal with it. I want the shite to stop, but threads like this, joking about it and hoping for violence only makes it worse.
You were raised to respect the police, I was too, but sadly I was taught to avoid them and try to say as little as possible to them because there's a good chance he could kill you over something dumb. I was taught that their fuse is automatically shorter with me than it would be with a white person, and thats due to American history. It's how we've always been treated so its normal, take a step into our world and you'll see that. That's what we mean by white privilege, that's just one example.
Spot on. Well said. I am not sure it will go over here. Most whites were raised to respect the police. The history is so much different than what African-Americans went through just a generation or so ago. That lead to distrust. We are still having to deal with the repercussions of our tawdry racial history.

BLM is a movement against police brutality. It doesn't make sense when you try to bring black on black crime into it because that's a completely different issue. And yes, All Lives Matter is a dumb point and it deflects away from our main point. WE ALREADY KNOW THAT ALL LIVES MATTER. BUT WE FEEL LIKE OUR LIVES DONT MATTER IN THIS COUNTRY. SO WE HAVE TO REMIND PEOPLE THAT THEY DO MATTER. How hard is that to understand??? We aren't treated like our lives matter, unless you're famous or an athlete. The rappers and the rest of us expendable. It's TRADITION in this country and thats why most of you hate to hear anyone speak against it.
If all lives matter than why is BLM forcing democratic Presidential candidates to apologize for saying that all lives matter? The dems dindu nuffin wrong by stating that so why should they apologize?

Oh jesus Christ. The histrionics are out of control. You were in no danger of being "killed".
You wonder why no one takes you seriously?
All it takes is for the lady to say "I think these black kids are stealing and I think I saw a gun" and the cops would come in blazing. It may sound dumb to you and I get that, but this shite has happened before whether you believe it or not.

Don't snitch.
Right?
Is that the way to improve police relations?
Keep that policy. It will only lead to more black American's deaths and apathy among white American's.
When the police actually try to help they get rebuffed. As far as I'm concerned the community that embrasses that philosophy deserves what it gets.

You're right. They didn't have a leader fighting for their rights. Instead, what did Asians as a general population do?
Parents told their kids to shut the hell up and get A's because nobody gives a shite about a dumbass with no money. They ignored the stereotypical comments, and gained the admiration of their peers once they started rolling in the dough and getting into the workforce as doctors, lawyers, business leaders, and engineers. They were told to respect their elders and the community around themselves. "Don't embarrass the family name and honor by acting like a fool". Earn it. And what happened over the past 150 years? The majority of them are living the American Dream or in the process of obtaining it.
Living in America is such a privilege and it's truly astonishing how many people take it for granted.

You could start by caring about all the black lives in your community that are killed needlessly and daily.
Lets be real honest here. This is about authority and race for BLM. No amount of beating around the bush will change that because you and your community and culture and movement cant reconcile "black lives matter" with the truth and reality of your culture that has nothing to do with the police or whites. The staggering amount of African Americans slaughtered at the hands of other African Americans and not nary a word. You cant reconcile the two because its beyond hypocritical so you just brush it away.
Like i said before, when you all really start caring and changing...let us know.

Tell me...when has black life ever mattered in this country? Tell me when and I'll call you a damn liar.
So, you didn't respond to anything I posted. Cool.

You do realize that we were not allowed to get a proper education for a very long time right? This led to us being stuck in rough high poverty neighborhoods. Were just getting over this hump.

How so?
Treat criminals with more respect than LE. Seems like a symptom of a broken culture.
It also perpetuates the idea that cops are the enemy.
No straw man there, sir.
And just to explain how it looks to an outsider, it hilarious.

I'll start taking this movement seriously when there's actual peaceful protests and not businesses and areas being destroyed. I'd be pissed as frick at my friends and family if they rioted after I got killed by a cop for being an idiot and not obeying what a cop told me to do.
ETA:
That actually is a good point. I would assume it takes a bit more than one generation. Regardless, it doesn't excuse all of the young individuals out there rioting.
I do hate the excuse of being in poverty though. There's ALWAYS a way out. My grandpa hitch hoke (is that even the past tense?) to Chicago with $2 in his pocket at age 13 and died a millionaire because he had a very strong work ethic. His most proud moment he always told me was becoming the highest paid window washer in the city by 23. Talk about working your way up.

I'll admit that "generational" poverty in the black community has been and remains a problem. It is enhanced by the fact that a large percentage of manufacturing jobs have left the country, especially in urban centers, as well as runaway entitlements that did nothing to encourage people to better themselves.
When does the black community finally say, "We need to better ourselves?"

Still waiting on that explaination on how officer Wilson's account of the events didn't make sense.
I'll explain one time.
Officer Wilson sees two teens walking in the street, he tells them to get out of the street.
This statement alone somehow turns Mike Brown into the angry hulk and he then decides that the officer must die, right? Ok so he "so called" punches him and reaches for his weapon.
He loses this battle and the cop shoots Mike. Mike realizes he's been shot and takes off running and Officer Wilson exits his vehicle and gives chase.
But...
For some strange reason, after running away for about 30 yards or so, Mike stops running, turns around, taunts the officer and then run towards him to try and finish him off. Mike runs through a few gunshots until a headshot finishes him off.
Now tell me how that make sense to you? If someone shoots you and you take off running, that means you're scared right? It's human nature. But for some reason, people believe that Mike stopped running and decided to turn around a run directly into gun fire. I don't buy it at all. And the DA also hid evidence from the jury members that later came to light later on. He also has ties to that police department. No one believes Mike's friend Dorian, or the other witnesses who went on camera and said they saw his hands raised. Instead they believe the man who has the most to lose and every reason to lie in this situation. I've seen police get exposed for covering up their comrades frick-ups so I know its very possible. I believe that same thing happened here, but it's over and done. Darren wilson is lucky to be free.

I already explained earlier that we have peace rallies and anti-violence rallies all the time. Hell, Dr Dre isn't making a penny off if his new album, instead he's using it open a performing arts school in Compton, but the media won't show you that. There is positivity happening, you just have to search for it. And it would also help to post some of here instead of the negative stuff. Or at least have balance.

And somehow the DOJ led by a black president and a black attorney general got it all wrong as well?
