La Times article
This story should be leading the news as a substantial portion of our food supply is now in the crosshairs.

Touton said it’s critical to achieve the additional cutbacks and her agency is in talks with the seven states that depend on the river to develop a plan for the reductions in the next 60 days. She warned that the Bureau of Reclamation has the authority to “act unilaterally to protect the system, and we will protect the system.”

“What has been a slow-motion train wreck for 20 years is accelerating, and the moment of reckoning is near,” said John Entsminger, general manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority, which supplies the Las Vegas area.

He pointed out that Lake Mead’s water level, now at 1,045 feet above sea level, has continued to decline toward critically low levels. Hoover Dam could still release water down to a level of 895 feet, but below that, water would no longer pass through the dam to supply California, Arizona and Mexico — a level known as “dead pool.”
“We are 150 feet from 25 million Americans losing access to the Colorado River, and the rate of decline is accelerating,” Entsminger told the senators.

can we get a list of things the Fed have taken over that actually got better?

So are they going to force them to release more from Lake Powell instead of hoarding it from Lake Mead?

If only moving 30 million people to a desert would have known and obvious consequences.
I just can’t believe no one saw this coming. How tragic.

No city should exist where Las Vegas and Phoenix are. That's for damn dam sure.

Oh no. How sad.

I set that up on the tee, and you crushed it!

As a government employee, trust me, you don’t want us in charge.

If not for the feds there would be no dams in the first place. Which may have been better in the long run.

A lot of people will have to move to Seattle.

I wonder what level it is where it can no longer generate power? The wife(no pics) and I were there in early May on vacation and the lake was awfully low and I'm sure it's only gotten worse. Like a couple have already said, maybe building large cities in a desert isn't the best idea

I know we’re just dumbasses from the South but maybe people aren’t supposed to live in deserts.

Kinda like all the millions moving to the Gulf Coast and hurricane alley? Houston, NOLA, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Beaumont, Tampa, Miami, Destin, Mobile, Biloxi.
