I went in to pre-term labor on a Saturday, was sent home Tuesday and back in the same day to deliver. Husband worked half days until I delivered and then took the rest of the week off. He then worked until the NICU release and took time off then.

On the 3rd day, I was begging to come back to work. I had to file labor correction with HR to get my PTO back.

Checks out..

I took two weeks. All my kids were cesarian. We had no help. I had to be off. Wife couldn't pick up anything. Had too after I went back to work. Just the baby. The strain caused her muscles to grow back imperfect. Still kind of bothers her. Doc said he can fix it when it gets the point she needs it repaired.

Good luck OP.

We get 4 weeks paternal leave to use within 6 months of birth. I'll probably take 2 in the beginning and save 2 to use at a later date

policeman buddy of mine took 6 weeks paid leave which he told me was normal. I respect him very much and could never do what he does.

I took two days off

I took 2 weeks. My boss told me to take all 6 allowed if I wanted, but the guy that inherited my duties is a good buddy of mine and I know it put him in a serious bind. Plus after two weeks I was going stir crazy

Then around Christmas I had a bunch of vacation time left over so I took another two weeks but was available for calls and answered emails a couple of times per day.

Two and 1/2 days. Honestly, the second day was just me being lazy. Wife could handle all of it, but I handled night shift. I only slept about 3 hours per day for the first two weeks, but there was no reason for me to miss work. Just handled night shift to give my wife a break because she had the day shift.

Guys that take off more than a few days are milking the system or just being lazy.
