I got paternity leave. It was pretty fantastic.

I felt like i was in college again.

The wife breast fed the babies each time so i slept like a champ, watched tv shows, and drank beer.

I was basically just there to help with stuff the wife needed

7 weeks. PTO reset halfway through. Was amazing to be together for the first 2 months. Company began offering 12 weeks paid immediately afterwards.

This is fantastic. I would have done the same had I been able to. 1.5 weeks for me.

The OT doesn't use sick days.

Ever.

I would have taken 6 months if they would have let me. I don't know how moms do it alone when fathers immediately go back to work. And given that I now sometimes see my kid for only 20-30 minutes a day, I don't know why you'd give up a single second (if financially possible) that you could be home together.

Took off two weeks for the last one and got paid twice for not working.

Had PTO saved up from the previous and was given two weeks by my new employer, whenever that makes get have happened to be. Start date is the same as the twins birthday. There were twofers everywhere.

I went back to work a couple of days after both of mine were born. My MIL and SIL stayed with the wife for a week or so after both were born, so my help was needed a couple of weeks later.

Took two weeks off then worked roughly 80% from home for about 3 months. Wife could only take a week off from school, so I was the "home" parent. Not many dads get to do that, and it was pretty cool.

If your wife will be starting back to work in a few months, keep in mind that the baby will get sick a decent amount that first year. You and your wife will need to switch off days to stay home with the sick baby, so make sure you save some days.

I’m about to go through this. Plan is to be there for delivery. Run to company burger for lunch. Then handling calls from home and going to office at night to work. Also planned it during it Mardi Gras so the work will be slow.

it's cute how you think you'll schedule a newborn.

Take a week off. For the love of God take a week off. You might not think you need to be there and will likely be bored out of your mind but you need to be there for her.
