Parent know they aren’t likely to get anything or definitely not this amount. This guy didn’t even slow down before running their daughter down and got only 15 years. Her death wasn’t quick. Not sure about his eligibility for parole before serving 15 years, but I think this is more added weight/justice not an expected windfall.

They aren’t expecting a windfall and I’m pretty sure any money collected would be put toward the foundation the mom started in her daughters name. This isn’t about money. This is about pushing all forms of punishment on someone who killed their daughter and didn’t even have the decency to stop.

I understand what you are saying but unfortunately no one really cares about the girl, her family/friends, nor the loss of life. They only care about money. So, you have to make feel pain where they care about it. Sad reality of our legal system, not our justice system.

It's about punishing the other person. They can donate the money to charity if they want.

As I understand things, they can file a lien on his assets. If he gets out and wins the lottery or inherits money, they’ll get paid first.
