Mountain lions do not want to mix it up with full grown people. If she thought she could kill him she would have.

That dude was more worried about getting to have a soy latte ever again and trying to get Instagram likes to start this whole thing so she probably could have.

Does it matter if the cat was protecting or stalking? I'd be scared of that thing either way. Does it matter the cats motives if you die? Are you going to ask the cat when his jaws are around its neck whether you are food or a threat to cubs? WHO CARES. GET OUTTA THERE

This is why you should carry bear spray on hikes.

Way better than a handgun. Bear spray can be used very liberally. Handguns can get you some serious charges if you don't have teeth marks and some meat missing off of you.

Sheeeeeit, I'd have to throw out my shorts if that happened to me! I've run that same trail. I've only seen one mountain lion and I've lived in SLC since 1995. I was driving up Big Cottonwood Canyon about this same time of the year in 2003 and one crossed the road in front of me. They are BIG.

Yep. I feel like it might even give you a chance if pinned down.

would it be against the law to fire shots into the ground in the direction of the cat?

Not uncommon, with bears either. Most people rarely notice.

It’s never against the law to fire shots into the ground.

Walk into a school and pop a few shots off into the gym floor and see what happens

Then it would be uncommon for me to carry my arse for a run in that area. frick, I stopped running down my own road because I got chased by a boxer and a lab. I would shite in my pants.

there again, if he sees young offspring, stop advancing and ease the frick out of the area. This idiot was walking towards the cubs. I have no sympathy for someone that stupid.

Looks like he was walking away from cats that were on the damn trail.

What Wes he supposed to do just hang a rt over the cliffs and through the woods?
