Trump pushed pretty hard for more family leave, which would have been HUGE for professionals that wanted kids. Basically the exact type of people we want to reproduce.

I am not talking about leave, I am talking about the economic conditions last year.

I took a pretty heavily cut in commissions, my wife’s scheduled raises are MIA, and we are lucky.

People were prognosticating about Covid baby boom. However it’s pretty obvious a lot of middle class just stayed on the pill

Will be interesting to see what milennials choose: support for the progressive big government spending they profess to love, or sticking it to the aging boomers who will hold out their hands to a shrinking pool of providers.

So you enact measurements that put people out of work, limit the amount of places they can meet other people and you thought one of the most expensive undertakings people can take on was just going to explode?

That’s assuming you are also lucky enough to WFH. If you aren’t you stuck figuring out what to do with your kids without school.

This article actually pisses me

I get the hate, here, for Boomers on this particular issue.
But we have all been taxed for it and paid into it. It would be different if it were simply a handout, but try NOT paying into it and see what happens, which is why so many are angry about the sense of entitlement.

Otherwise I agree with what most are asserting here, about contraception and whatever else. It's all true.

The Dems. have all been FOR extended family leave for DECADES, until OMB advocated for it, too. Now it's a bad idea, well, it should be a good idea again now that SleepyChina Joe is in office. Liberalism/Leftism is a mental illness.

Real problem is the birth rate is largely declining with educated/two parent households.

It is still growing in the low socioeconomic segments.

Idiocracy is upon us.

Maybe we should stop pushing the whole alphabet of sexual orientation thing.

We need to do several things, but this is where we should start:

- Major upgrades to parental leave to encourage employed people to have babies. This could include tax breaks for employers as well so they are also encouraged to hire people that want families.

- Government incentivized vasectomies for all men on welfare. Give them $10,000 for the procedure.

- Cap welfare increases for people that continue to have children they can't afford.

I’m sorry but frick that. Raise the retirement age. These people are more than capable to continue working, why should they get a 30+ year vacation on the taxpayers? I get the concept for when you’re old but 65 ain’t that old.

I fail to see how less people in the world is a crisis. People suck.

Oh, this is about the Boomers wanting to be coddled some more.

I cannot believe these people actually predicted a baby boom with the start of covid.

Wife and I both thought we would be having far more sex than normal. Went the other way entirely. Lots of stress and having the kids home a lot more. Can't during the day even though we are both home either, because she's on conference calls all day. At the end of the day we are both beat and just want to get some sleep.

Boomers lived through the best economy in modern history and paid $7 for college and $15 for a house but still need handouts to survive.

Sorry you didn't save when you were younger?

Also way more than half of my friends are in relations that simply don't want to ever have kids. That used to not be the case.

The baby boom is happening now. Lots of pregnant women in town, including my daughter.

Or (crazy idea) people could be largely responsible for their own retirement.
