Someone left a box with 3 kittens in it next to the office dumpster last night, so I brought them home. We're not cat people really. Last cat I owned was when I was a kid. I got some kitty litter and made a makeshift litter box for them. They already know where it is and what it's for, but they seem to be struggling with the kitten food I bought. Guess maybe they weren't fully weened? Taking them to the vet tomorrow morning, and I guess I'll be trying to find someone to give them to. How hard is that? Seems I'm always seeing ads for free kittens.

My wife hates cats and doesn't really want them, though she said she'd be open to keeping one of them. Dog is obsessed with them, in a good way, and they've warmed up to her.

Anyway, Dear Facebook I guess.

Soften kitten food with a little water, they can get sick very quickly without food and water. Look on Facebook for local rescues, do not just give them away as their are sick fricks out there looking for free kittens and puppies.

I loathe you and I semi-loathe cats. But your compassion for animals speaks well of your otherwise shitty character. Never trust anybody who would mistreat an animal.

Ever Found Abandoned Kittens

I don't know if my cat was abandoned but I picked her off the shoulder on Interstate 10 near Lacassine heading west. She was about 5 to 6 weeks old. She is a great kitty.

You did the right thing!

I rescued a litter of kittens from storm flooding one time when I was a kid. We kept hearing meowing from outside. I went out in the rain with a cooler, found them bunched up against a fence, loaded them up and took them home. Their mother had left them as the water rose. Never did see her come back around. We dropper fed them until they were big enough to eat solid food. We kept one, gave the rest away.

Did that this morning and they seemed to handle it a little better.

I'm going to ask the vet tomorrow if they can re-home them or rec someone to do that that will vet people. I've gotten a little attached to one and may keep it.

I don't even know if these are male or female. I'm so clueless on kittens/cats.

My wife did one time. 7 of them and I hated every second of it for over two weeks until we finally got rid of all of them...except one who is still at my house right this minute. This was ten years ago.

Yes I have, brought it home and told myself I’d take care of it until I could find another place for it...

...that was 3 years ago...

there's a few really smart folks on this board who know what to do, as this topic comes up occasionally. I hope they post.

Get theme some nutrition, one way or another, as soon as possible. Even if it is just the juice/gravy from some very-wet cat or dog food.

They need calories badly, and warmth. Post a photo and I will try to give some better advice.

The tiny kitten I found before a bad storm a year and a half ago, between my Mom's house and the neighbors, is a sweetie now that I can't imagine not having in my life.

I didn't like cats until I had a mice issue a few years ago and got one. He cleaned house of those bitches and we haven't had a sign of them since.

He and the dog are best pals.

Unfortunately its a problem that i deal with every year. Probably save at least 5 kittens a year. When you live on large acreages of land, people tend to think its a good place to dump an animal. We have kept some to control the mice in the fields, and rehomed many.

I'll try to figure out how to post a pic.

I *think* they're about the age they should be just about weened. They just kind of pick at the food, though did do better this morning when I softened it for them. May go get some canned food tonight.
