Electric Scooter

So I live 1.3 miles from my office in a small suburb with sidewalks everywhere. I am seriously considering, at the potential expense of my dignity, getting an electric scooter for the days I know won't have precipitation. Reasons?

1. They look fun.
2. Save money on gas (though it is only 1.3 miles anyways).
3. The convenience of not only riding it to work but being able to roll into our little downtown area with pubs and food joints.

Anyone have experience with these or recommendations?

We purchased a couple of electric scooters from Hiboy a couple years ago for our children.

Those things are awesome, and they make multiple versions for adults depending on what you need and budget.

I have used the rental scooters in Nashville. They were a good time. Fast enough and seemed to have good range.

Electric scooters are like fat girls. They are fun to ride. You just don't wants your friends to see you on one

Why not just get a bicycle?

They are really popular where I live. The same goes for electric bikes, skateboards, one wheels, etc.

My house is less than 1/10 of a mile from work. Other than trips to the grocery store, I hardly ever drive.

Spend a little more and get the bigger engine and batteries. Most cities have them spread around, for rent. You should rent one and see how you like it.

Also, charge it at work because electricity at your house is at rape prices right now.

Good question. I already have a bicycle and while 1.3 miles isn't that far, the route does have its share of hills. I'd rather not walk into my office drenched in sweat.

The nice thing about the electric scooter is I don't need something with a crazy amount of range and, at the right price point, it'll get me up hills with ease.

(I'm 175 lbs)

This describes my initial sentiment perfectly...

What about an ebike? I bought one for the wife when we go camping and it is awesome. Thinking about buying another one.

Space, mainly. Our garage currently has my gym, our van, my regular bike, lawn mower, and all our kids toys (among other things) in it. Not sure where I would put another full size bike, let alone one that weighs 40 lbs.

You may want to test that theory.

Just saying...

Also, be careful going down steps:

Yea I'm doing research enough to know which ones can handle some hills because I know some certainly cannot.
