This actually sounds kind of self-absorbed and narcissistic to not take any interest in anything anyone else likes unless it’s also interesting to you.

Hopefully she’s a good wife and lets you participate in things that interest you but don’t necessarily interest her.

My wife didn't know about the drones until I mentioned in passing. She didn't even know about the Biden vote dump at 3:00am in 2020 until I told her about it in the run up to this previous election. She can tell you exactly where every member of the British Royal family was this weekend and who is dating who in Hollywood, though.

Your wife sounds like the worst kind.

Mine is whip smart about things she's interested in. She has two undergrad degrees and a masters as a PA. She is a certified nutritionist and yoga instructor. But current events, the news, hollywood, and history just don't interest her so she knows almost nothing. I actually can't understand how she can go through her week and NOT get exposed to at least some current events. She will come to me every now and then and ask "so what's the deal with X?". This week it was the drones she wanted to know about. Last week it was what was P Diddy being accused of. During the election cycle it's about the candidates. I think she's happy not to know about the mundane and the tragic, instead focusing on herself and her small world.

I’ll just never understand why history and current events are not interesting to so many people. Not knowing history is a form of ignorance and lack of education.

How can you not be reflective enough to even think about where everything we have today came from and all the events we had to go through to get to this point? It’s very important, but some people just don’t realize it. Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.

This is ignorance of history is also how people end up with so many terrible political opinions.

^ same. She know every Hollywood person or whatever but never knows like actual stuff. She doesn’t even think about the Roman Empire each day.

She might have been. Helen Keller was a raging communist bitch.

Cut her some slack, she could see no evil or hear no evil. Let’s face it, communism is the blind leading the blind.

Mine is bad with directions, but she often times surprises me with being knowledgeable about a subject that I had no idea she knew anything about.

One of the problems I have with my wife is she will start a story in the middle, assuming I already know all the background details. I'll be like "I have no idea what you're talking about, baby." and she gets mad at me, LOL!

On the directions thing, she refers to "right" and "left" and I have to remind her that is relative to which direction you are coming from.

This cracked me up. I was on a bus in Rome this summer, and there was this guy who was obviously a wacko, speaking in English like a Shakesperean actor.

When it was his time to get off, he approached me and asked me where I was from. I said Oklahoma. He then says in a loud voice "Bye Oklahoma!". Then he whispered in my ear "And please remember the Roman Empire."

Agreed. 100%

The best I can answer regarding my wife is, she came from a home where there was a lot of trauma and unhappiness. She's spent a lot of her adult life peeling back the layers of cope and shielding to heal from that. She spends a ton of her mental and emotional energy on self improvement and healing.

I was fortunate to come from the typical middle class stable family. So I don't have ANY of the baggage she fights with daily.

Women are generally bad with geography, topography, and overall awareness of celestial bodies (planets, stars, black holes, space time, etc).
