Does anyone else get mildly annoyed at a life experience being called ‘a journey’?

Why did this start happening?
You live in Dayton, OH for awhile and later that was ‘a journey’.
GenX remembers when the only journey you heard about was the band.

It's been a difficult season of change for me.

The endless cliches have become a little much.
But what do you expect from a population that has sleeve tattoos?

My journey has had some really shitty Lakeview style roads but the path is about Highway 6 in Houston now. Still shitty, but not too far away from the nice stuff.

Life is good when this is the only worried you have. Amen.

Depends on the life, I guess.

Most people's journey is really just like driving the interstate through Iowa. Not interesting enough for other people to care about.

Journey sounds better than shitty luck.

I get more annoyed at this. In the words of Yvon Chouinard (climber and OG founder of Patagonia brand)
quote:
The word adventure has gotten overused. For me, when everything goes wrong — that’s when adventure starts
quote:
Real adventure is defined best as a journey from which you may not come back alive, and certainly not as the same person.

It's not that someone lived in Dayton Ohio. It's what you did while living in Dayton to get to your end moment or summit in your life. I am pretty sure the journey analogy came from an older person that understands looking back and seeing how they were affected with the past decisions in life they made. Once you realize no books were written about a mountain summit without emphasis on the journey you start appreciating the small and large things in life. You learn not to take simple things for granted and treat every conversation with importance. This alone will make you a better person in the eyes of others.
Slow down and enjoy the moments you have with friends and family

It can be, but normal activities aren't a journey.

It is certainly over used. This is a journey-that's a journey. Just too much.
