Good to know. I guess then that Dinosaurs are the land dwellers that walked on two feet or four feet?

How about the ancient flying creatures? Are they Dinosaurs? Pterodactyl, and the like?

It's good to break them down into categories because then we get to pick more favorites.

A dinosaur is a reptile/bird hybrid with a hole in the hip joint that allows the legs to be directly beneath the body, allowing for animals to eventually be able to walk upright.

There were plenty of large animals at this time like crocodiles, etc that don’t have this. Their legs splay out from their body.

None of the Pterosaurs (flying lizards)were dinosaurs. Though some scientists are thinking some of the small dinosaurs at least had some gliding ability.

1. What is your favorite dinosaur
Spinosaurus, largest carnivore ever. Basically a 50' long, 25' tall biped alligator

2. In your opinion, what makes a dinosaur a dinosaur
Extinct Reptilia. The term dinosaur is actually very specific and many prehistoric animals we think of were not "dinosaur".

3. Have you accepted that most dinosaurs had feathers
Yes

4. What is your favorite dinosaur controversy
color variations

5. If you could bring one dinosaur to today’s world, which one would you bring
Triceratops

6. Why did you not follow your dream of becoming a paleontologist
My father is a Professional Geologist and steered me away from it as a profession. However, Paleontology was a huge hobby for him so I got to experience a lot.

7. What is your favorite disproven dinosaur myth
They were not intelligent

8. Who is the greatest paleontologist
Not greatest, but favorite

9. Where is your dream digsite (where would you like to go camping for 3 weeks looking at bones in an arid mountains landscape)
I've been to some pretty cool places already. I'd like to go outside of the US starting with Alberta. I would have said China before 2020.

10. What is your prediction that the greatest dinosaur discovery will be within the next 10 years
Evidence of dinosaurs (and others) using "tools" and other discoveries about their intelligence.

Fun fact the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park were not actually Velociraptors they were Deinonychus

Velociraptors were actually about the size of chickens.

And Deinonychus we’re actually pretty slow. They believe they didn’t go much past 6 miles per hour, which is slow compared to other similar dinosaurs.

Utah raptors were able to go 20 miles and hour and were 10 feet tall.

Yes, but sauropods were idiots. I was listening to something yesterday that put their intelligence very very low.

Working on it. It’s a multi-step process.

No.

My daughter's favorite dinosaur is T. Rex but I think that is too incredibly dangerous to bring back. Her second favorite is Gallimimus, so probably that one.

My prediction:
A Florida man is going to find an actual live dinosaur in some swamp hole in a bumfrick part of the Everglades. He's going to make it his life's mission to find another one. When he eventually does, all while filming a TV show for History Channel, he will breed them, and that will mark the beginning of the end of all of mankind.

Yes, even Florida man.
