Smaller crowd than usual this year. My annual stock up on business dress shirts at half off. Got a decent $120 jacket for $35. This year they had 50% off of the already marked down price on some items.

Didn't see TulaneLSU dragging his shopping bags around this year.

That’s what I’d like to know. I don’t buy if I can’t buy online nowadays.

In store. Online just has 50% off select items, plus no returns if you buy a sale item today.

Friend,

I scouted Dillard’s yesterday and the cashier in the Christmas section told me that today’s sale would be 50%. It was already 50% off yesterday. The Christmas supplies were already measly. I do not know if people bought more decorations throughout Advent (unlikely) or stores bought less decorations (possibly expecting less sales or due to supply chain problems like with wood). The end result was the worst after Christmas sales in memory.

It was not just Dillard’s. Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Walmart were just as empty for sales this year. I once used Walmart’s post Christmas Christmas lights availability as a gauge for the coming year’s stock market, but this year I won’t.

I sure am glad I stocked up last year after Christmas. I pity those who expected a bonanza this year because it was a big dud of an after Christmas sales season. And yes, Walmart started 75% off yesterday, but nary a tree or strand of lights was available even at the opening bell.

It is online as well... or at least it was at midnight last night. I logged on and got 8 dress shirts @ 70% off.

AntiqueTiger will get them for 95% off retail once you're done and put them in an estate sale.

Then he’ll lie about selling them for 10x what he paid

Dillards limited the number of people in stores. Short line to wait to get inside store, and short lines at registers. Few items available on sale. Sale was weak this year. It appears that they did not have a lot of merchandise like previous years which makes sense. Fewer people shopped in person in stores this year.

Decent sale on clothes like previous years.

Yall really need to learn about Dillards clearance in cortana. Sale changes every week. But everything starts at 65% off and then goes down from there. I bought 8 long sleeve button downs - Hart Schaeffer Marx and Cremieux Collection 100% pima no iron - for $5 each Wednesday. Retail was a $100 a shirt

The wife and I went there several years ago and definitely scored some bargains. But the crowds and the long lines made for a long day and you definitely need to bring your patience. But as the OP stated ....maybe smaller than normal crowds this year.

Happy New Year all!

I just walked in. Line had two people in front of me at checkout. I don't really care about Christmas items and gifts. They had everything in the mens department that they usually had. Got my clothes at 50 to 70% off and left.

Friend,

I assume next year we will return to the typical NYD sale chaos. If that is the case, reconnoitre the store the night before the sale just before they close. Do all your shopping then and know where everything you want is. The morning of the sale get there about an hour early. Bring a chess set, a football, a Bible, and some hot chocolate. Enjoy fellowship with your other shoppers waiting. When the doors open hustle to the items you have already decided to buy. Grab them and put them in the jumbo bags or containers you have brought. Immediately go to the checkout and get out. I rarely am in Dillard’s even ten minutes after opening. As I leave with bags and hands overflowing there is still a steady stream of shoppers in queue entering. They look at Mother and me as though we are shopping wizards.

If you fail to prepare you will not get what you want and you will wait in very long lines among people who often have bad aromas attached to their person. Use my method and you will have a great time.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Did not venture out on purpose looking for Christmas stuff but when I have been in Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes after Christmas they had nothing out. I am not sure if any remaining was bought up or if they simply just packed it away.

Friend,

You paint pitchers wid words, and I thank you for it.

Example:
quote:

If you fail to prepare you will not get what you want and you will wait in very long lines among people who often have bad aromas attached to their person.

Very nicely done!

Best regards to you and your family on this first day of a New Year!

Sales this year sucked. Am at dillards now and polo really sucks. Not even any decent sweaters to buy this year even at regular priced. Looks more like outlet stock and selection
