Did Your Parents Argue In Front of You?

When you were growing up (or now, in present day) would your parents argue in front of you? Would they yell at each other and say mean things to one another?
My parents have been in an unhappy marriage for a long time. I think if my younger sister hadn’t been born, they would have divorced a long time ago. My Mom straight up told me they only stay together because of the bills. Yikes.
Even as an adult, I can feel the bitterness and disdain my Mom has for my Dad when she talks to him. We’re staying with my parents right now because we’re remodeling our house, and it has been a tense household to say the least.
So has anyone one else experienced this with their parents? Parents who hate each other?

My parents hardly ever argued. I'm envious of the relationship they had. My mother-in-law belittles my father-in-law all the time.

Yeah baw. Don’t know if they hated each other but they definitely got the big D. Screamed a lot, pops drank a lot. Eventually split. I was 15ish. Sucked.

You can’t hide all arguments from your children, but I don’t ever use profanity in that case. Alone, I shouldn’t but have.

What “man” would put up with this shite long term?
Your dad have a “work wife” or something?

Never. I can't tell you one time they argued. If they did, they were discrete.
My mom was pretty stoic.

My parents haven't argued since I was 4.
They haven't been married since then either.

I struck gold and my parents rarely argued in front of me. I try to do the same but it can be incredibly difficult and I feel like a shithead anytime I catch myself in an argument in front of my kids.

Yes, I mean what do you call mean things? They used to yell shite like "shut up god damn it, I am tried to listen.. shite!"
Things like that. Sometimes they would piss each other off and just said what they felt.. I guess that's considering arguing.

This thread explains a lot. No wonder some of you are a bunch of fruit cakes.

Not that I can recall.

Sometimes you just can’t help it. I can only bite my tongue for the sake of the kids for so long. If I’ve had enough, we’re gonna have it out in front of whoever is around.
My wife knows she can get away with more bc the kids are around.

I was about 10 when my mom (divorced, no pics) began a string of shitty relationships. Screaming matches, physically abusive, etc. Looking back, it threw me for a loop and I was in my early 20's before I figured out how to process it. Sorry to hear this man, I know it's hard for you to see your mom go through it.

My parents were never disrespectful to each other and never saw them argue much. Grew up in a stable home. Guess I was lucky with that.

I remember only once. I was probably 13 or 14, they both said some shite, dad stormed off and slammed the back door, got in his car, and took a 20 minute drive. Came back, they apologized to one another, and everything was good.

Damn, seriously? Why stay together?

Dad’s baptist religious fervor is on par with the irans ayatollah. Beat every part of the Bible that said “thought shall obey me” into my siblings and mother. They would argue all the time. She deeply hated the man for his ways and tolerated it due to her religious convictions. They got the big D after we were all grown and gone.
